Jordan Spieth sets a new Masters record after 36 holes
By Andrew Ross
The 2014 Masters could already be almost over after only two rounds of play.
Jordan Spieth is only 21 years old (turns 22 in late July), but he is running away with this year’s Masters.

Spieth just finished his second round and is 14-under for the tournament which is now the tournament-record for lowest score after 36 holes. His 130 score after two rounds is actually tied for the lowest all-time in any major. The other players that did it were: Nick Faldo in the 1992 Open, Brandt Snedeker in the 2012 Open and Martin Kaymer in the 2014 U.S.
Spieth had nine birdies and one bogey through his first 18 holes, and he followed that up today with a flawless round of six birdies and not a single bogey. There has been a whole lot of this going on over the last two days.
The young star would be blowing everyone out of the water if it wasn’t for one player. Charley Hoffman is the closest to Spieth at 10-under, and the next closest person is only 5-under. Of course a lot can change over the next two days, but it definitely seems like this will be a two-man race to the finish line.
For as young as Spieth is, he still wouldn’t be the youngest player to ever win the Masters. He would be the second-youngest behind Tiger Woods who won it at the age of 21 years, 3 months (Spieth is 21 years, 8 months).
Speaking of Woods, he probably would be all the talk is Spieth wasn’t playing out of his mind. Woods wasn’t expected to even play in the Masters, and then no one thought he would even make the cut once he announced he was playing. Fortunately for the world of gold, Woods has just finished his second round and will go into the weekend at 2-under. The score might seem underwhelming, but he would be going into the weekend in contention in just about any other Masters. 2-under currently has Woods tied for 14th as he moved up 27 spots today. Woods appeared confident in his game today as he walked away with four birdies and only one bogey. It would mean a great deal to see him continue this play all throughout the weekend.
Spieth came into this tournament as the fourth ranked golfer in the world, and he has already had an incredible 2015 season as he has six top 10 finishes and even won Valspar Championship via a playoff last month.
