Taiwan’s Thongchai Jaidee got his second day at The Masters off to a good start, delivering an impressive eagle on the third hole.

Taiwanese golfer Thongchai Jaidee is a relatively unknown golfer in the United States. A veteran of the Asian and European Tours, Jaidee ranks 43rd in the World Golf Rankings entering play at The Masters. As the all-time leader in earnings on the Asian Tour, Jaidee has received a special invitation to The Masters since 2006.

After finishing a career-best 37th in 2014, Jaidee found himself well out of the lead at 3-over par and in need of some help just to make the weekend cut. He got that in droves on just one swing of the club on Friday.

After parring both of the first two holes, Jaidee hit a 252 yard drive to put himself within striking distance of the green. From 98 yards out, Jaidee took what appeared to be a gap wedge and hit himself a fairly nice shot at the pin. The ball carried about three feet beyond and with some solid spin, and netted Jaidee exactly the result he needed to get himself back into the fold.

An eagle certainly helps gets players back into the mix, even if he finds himself 10 shots back as of this writing. He’s turned that momentum into a birdie on the fifth hole as well, playing to 3-under-par through the first 6 holes on Friday.

Of course, Jaidee will need a lot of momentum if he wishes to catch up to Jordan Speith, who is outpacing the field by 4 shots through the early going on Friday morning. Speith was 8-under par on Thursday and is 2-under par on Friday through the first 6 holes of his day. Jason Day and Charlie Hoffman are tied for second place,  sitting at 6-under par.
