Cristiano Ronaldo free kick breaks keeper’s ankle (Video)
Cristiano Ronaldo shoots awesome free kick making the keeper look absolutely silly against Eibar.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first free kick since last March in a nifty way. As Real Madrid took on Eibar, Ronaldo was set up with a free kick about 25 yards out. It had been 57 attempts since his last free kick shot went in. So you could say he was due for a goal sooner or later.
But no one was expecting the Eibar keeper to get fooled so bad by Ronaldo’s shot that he would be on the ground in embarrassment. But that’s exactly what happened.
As the ball came off the inside of Ronaldo’s foot, it appeared as if the ball would gracefully land just to the right of the keeper. But as the ball hit the ground it took an unexpected bounce landing on the opposite side of the goalie completely breaking his ankles. The goalie was on the ground as the ball flew into the net notching Ronaldo’s 38th league goal of the season.
There is nothing like a flawless free kick that really gets your team going. Real Madrid would go on to win 3-0 against Eibar. Real Madrid was expected to win the game. But the story of the day will be Ronaldo’s awesome free kick, and the goalie who got fooled by it.
But seriously? How often do you see ankles break in this manner. Normally it is the doing of some fancy crossovers in basketball, some nifty footwork or nutmegs in soccer.
But a shot curling and bouncing in such a way that it fakes out a keeper, simply incredible.
