The Oklahoma City Thunder took on the Indiana Pacers Sunday in a game they would go on to lose, 116-104. Well, most notably coming out of this one, Russell Westbrook was issued his 16th technical foul of the season with about six minutes to go in regulation, meaning that he’s now facing a one-game suspension automatically.
Westbrook was issued the foul on this play by referee Ed Malloy.
As you can tell from the video, Westbrook is not the only person that thought a technical wasn’t necessary in that moment. There’s a pretty good chance that you don’t think there was either.
What we know for a fact, though, is that injured teammate Kevin Durant most certainly did not agree with what was called. How do we know this? Well, his tweet after the play pretty much gave it all away.
So, yeah, there’s really no debating that Durant disagreed with the call on the floor.
The good news for those that are mad, though, is that Westbrook can appeal the technical call, and if it ends up being rescinded, the one-game suspension will be out the window.
