Floyd Mayweather has given an interview in which he claims he restrained his ex girlfriend but did not beat her
Undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather is in the headlines on a weekly basis due to an upcoming ‘Super Fight’ with Manny Pacquiao on May 2nd. The flashy fighter gave an interview to Katie Couric for Yahoo News in which he flat out denied the charges he plead guilty to at the time.
"“Did I kick, stomp and beat someone? No, that didn’t happen. I look in your face and say, ‘No, that didn’t happen.’ Did I restrain a woman that was on drugs? Yes, I did. So if they say that’s domestic violence, then, you know what? I’m guilty. I’m guilty of restraining someone.’ ”"
Mayweather is no stranger to controversy as this incident wasn’t the only one involving him, assault and a woman. It’s a stereotype that boxers often beat there wives, sometimes it’s a case of people wrongfully accusing the men who are in a better financial situation. However, one would have to assume that there are so many incidents involving Mayweather that they can’t all be crying wolf.
Mayweather has been accused of 7 incidents with 5 women, the boxer served two months of a 90 day sentence for the incident he alluded to in the interview. He was quick to blame his profession, race and wealth for his legal actions.
"“I’m black. I’m rich. And I’m outspoken. Those are three strikes right there. So, you know, when someone says, ‘I got pushed or hit,’ I’m a fighter, so I may not really hit a person. But guess what? I got to fight the case because I’m already guilty.”"
His fight with Manny Pacquiao is expected to be the highest grossing contest in the sport of boxing’s history. So Mayweather’s wealth is set to skyrocket once more, not that the boxer has much to worry about in the financial department anyway.
‘Money Mayweather’ is often outspoken, and his latest claims are a surprise to nobody as he often seems to say things just to be controversial. The build up for the super fight will rumble on for the next three weeks, leading to a lot more opportunities for the boxer to make headline making claims.
