Greg Jennings hinted at a possible signing with Jacksonville on Sunday when he tweeted an interesting picture.

NFL free agent wide receiver Greg Jennings is looking for a new home after he was released by the Minnesota Vikings in March. Jennings, who has played for the Green Bay Packers as well, may be looking to get out of the cold and into the Florida sun. He met with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Tuesday.

Around 2 p.m., Greg Jennings tweeted out an ominous picture, and it could mean that he’s hinting that he may sign with the Jaguars after visiting today.

He could’ve just tweeted that out simply because he’s visiting the team Tuesday. But, it could also mean that he might sign with the team very soon.

*Side note: Do a lot of Jacksonville Jaguars players and management drive Jaguar cars? Because if not, that’s extremely disappointing. FanSided investigation coming soon…*

Anyway, back to Jennings. He’s a 31-year-old receiver who just played his ninth NFL season with the Vikings. He spent his first seven years in Green Bay where he exploded from 2008-2010, averaging over 1,200 yards and eight touchdowns in those three seasons, and winning a Super Bowl to boot.

In two seasons with Minnesota, Jennings played 31 of 32 games, but only averaged 773 yards and five touchdowns for the two years and Minnesota released him.

Now, should the Jaguars sign Greg Jennings?

The do sign him argument:

The Jaguars are pretty weak at the wide receiver position. Their one and two receivers are Marqise Lee and Allen Robinson, who were both drafted in 2014 by the team and they have Allen Hurns (un-drafted in 2014) and Tommy Streeter (drafted in 2012). Their receiving core is extremely young and could use a veteran receiver like Greg Jennings to be a leadership presence on their young offense. Lee only played in 13 games in 2014 and Robinson played in just 10 games. Hurns was their leading receiver with 677 yards and six touchdowns.

You could argue that despite Jennings being somewhat prone to injury in recent years, he’s what Jacksonville needs in their young receiving core that really doesn’t have a lot of experience. He may not have been a very strong target in Minnesota, but his numbers were still better than anyone catching the ball for Jacksonville and they could sign him to a small contract to see him he could pan out for them.

The don’t sign him argument:

Do the Jaguars really want to spend cap money on a guy like Jennings who hasn’t performed to a very high standard in recent years and has also been prone to injury? Jennings is no doubt past his prime and the Jaguars may not want to spend money on a guy who has little potential.

Jacksonville is in the process of building a team for the future, and they haven’t had a lot of “win-now” mentality in the recent offseason. They already made a huge signing in tight end Julius Thomas who will most likely be their primary target this season after his 24 touchdowns in the past two seasons with Denver. Is Jennings a guy they really need to get right now? I don’t think so.

Jacksonville needs to fill roles at pass rushing and offensive line with their first three picks in the upcoming NFL Draft. They’ll likely take a guy like Leonard Williams or Dante Fowler at No. 3 overall, but they could use their second or third round pick on a receiver and use the other for a offensive lineman. There’s plenty of receiving talent in the upcoming draft.

I’d like to see Jacksonville take a run at a guy like Dorial Green-Beckham, if he somehow falls to the second round or even Devin Funchess, who is a big guy that can leap up for big catches. They could go for Kansas State’s Tyler Lockett or East Carolina’s Justin Hardy if they fall to the third round.

If Jacksonville wants to wait even longer, they could grab 6-6 Devon Waller out of Georgia Tech in the fourth or fifth round, or even Stefon Diggs out of Maryland in the fifth who has a lot of potential.

It doesn’t look like Jacksonville needs to pull the trigger on Jennings right now before the draft later this month, but if they do, they could get veteran leadership and probably some decent numbers out of him.
