Kobe Bryant wasn’t too pleased when he found out the media was criticizing Russell Westbrook for taking 43 shots in a recent win.

As one of the best players in the NBA this season and a guy who could potentially win the MVP Award and the scoring title in the same year, Russell Westbrook has done a lot with a team that has very little left. The Oklahoma City Thunder need a couple things to happen in order to make the playoffs this year, but the media doesn’t seem to care if Westbrook puts the team on his back or not.

Oklahoma City is tied for eighth place in the Western Conference, but the Pelicans hold the tie-breaker with one game left. The Thunder need a Pelicans loss as well as a win of their own to make the postseason.

For a team that seems to be favorites every year to win the conference, how is it so impressive that Westbrook is just keeping them in the race for a spot? Kevin Durant, last year’s MVP, and Serge Ibaka have all been fighting injuries this season while KD has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.

Westbrook has taken the team over, recording 11 triple-doubles in the process, and led it to a 44-37 record with one game left. A playoff spot is on the line. Even one loss for the past couple of weeks could have doomed the Thunder — hence why he had to take 43 shots to keep OKC alive, despite the loss, in a game against the Pacers last week. The media did not forgive him.

Enter, Kobe Bryant.

The Los Angeles Lakers‘ star shooting guard has never been shy to speak his mind and let people know when he disagrees with a certain topic. The media criticism of Westbrook following his 43-shot performance is one thing Kobe strongly opposes.

So, casually, Bryant took to Twitter to voice his frustration.

That all-time great who went 19-43 in an NBA Finals loss was none other than the legendary Michael Jordan.

Kobe finished his rant by posting one last meme that summed up all of his feelings.

Hard to argue with Bryant. The facts are on his side and Westbrook was doing everything he could to help his team win. Nine rebounds and eight assists to go along with 54 points and all the media talks about his his 43 shots.

Well said, Kobe.
