Updated NBA Playoff Picture: Pacers eliminated, Nets clinch No. 8 seed in East
By Josh Hill
The NBA Playoff picture is set, and the Indiana Pacers are on the outside looking in thanks to their loss against the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night.
The Indiana Pacers were supposed to tank this year, but instead they came within a few minutes and couple of bad shots from making the postseason.
Frank Vogel’s squad persevered in the most impressive way possible this season and they almost rewarded their efforts with a trip to the postseason. Instead, their season ends in defeat as the Memphis Grizzlies used a win over the Pacers to not only bounce Indiana from the postseason but move into the No. 5 seed in the West.
Here’s a look at the updated — and now final — NBA Playoff picture.
It was a tough season for the Indiana Pacers and they can’t hang their heads too low. They nearly made the postseason in a year where they were largely written off before anything could even start for them. The injury to Paul George and his loss for the most of the season was a huge blow to the Pacers and they weren’t supposed to go anywhere.

Nevertheless, Frank Vogel’s team persevered and nearly made the postseason in improbably fashion. It wasn’t meant to be though and the focus now shifts from if the Pacers could upset the Hawks to will the Nets be able to?
Brooklyn is hardly as stout as the Pacers are but they have talent across the board which has won in the postseason before. They are going up against one of the best teams in basketball though, but the loss of Thabo Sefolosha may end up giving Brooklyn a chance to pull off the upset.
Either way, the season came down to the wire again this year, and while the Pacers are on the outside looking in, they have little to hang their heads about now that everything is all said and done.
