The Oakland Raiders are right in the mix for Adrian Peterson.

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson has been reinstated into the league and rumors are flying all over the team on where he could land for the coming season. The Vikings would have to release him off of the roster or find a trade partner to take his large contract, but there are teams that have the room under the cap to make that move.

One of the teams that is making noise about the possible acquisition of Peterson is the Oakland Raiders. An NFL GM told Bleacher Report’s Mike Freeman that he believes that the Raiders are right there in the mix of teams that are interested in Peterson. ESPN reporter Bill Williamson also added that he keeps hearing that the Raiders are connected to Peterson.

The Raiders have the room under the cap to add the stud running back onto the roster. Peterson would be a $12.75 million hit on the cap for the 2015 season, but you cannot deny his production.

What does this mean for the young back Latavius Murray? The team already had flirted with the possibility of adding DeMarco Murray onto the roster and now they are interested in adding Adrian Peterson into the mix. The team also added Roy Helu and Trent Richardson onto the roster this offseason. Those guys would not be battling for much playing time though if Peterson were on the roster. Latavius Murray would have to take a backup role on the roster if Peterson were added. The Raiders could find more opportunities to get Peterson a rest with Murray on the roster.

What will it cost the Raiders to make a trade for Peterson? There are other teams that could be very interested in adding Peterson to the roster as well. The Dallas Cowboys and the Arizona Cardinals are a couple of teams that could use the running back on their roster now. It could create a bidding war between the teams, but we all will be watching on draft day to see if Peterson’s name gets tossed around somewhere.

Peterson still is one of the best in the league. After taking a season off, we are not sure what his impact would be, but we would all guess that he still would be running past and through defenses without any issues. He would do wonders for a young quarterback like Derek Carr on the Raiders roster. Peterson would be able to take the pressure off of Carr and could carry the running game on his back. Teams would have to play against the run and that would open up the passing game for Carr to find James Jones, Michael Crabtree and Andre Holmes down the field.

What price would you pay to get Peterson onto the Raiders?
