In a game that seemed to be lasting forever, a chicken finger rained down from heaven, causing a delay in the Giants-Diamondbacks contest.

The San Francisco Giants and Arizona Diamondbacks are the two bottom-dwellers in the National League West and they faced off for a 12-inning affair on Thursday evening. The game was so long, in fact, that people thought they were seeing things as a stray chicken finger seemed to rain down from the sky with no reasonable explanation on the other end of it.

After a short delay, the game resumed and the Diamondbacks finished off the Giants at AT&T Field in San Francisco.

Yes, I said the chicken finger from heaven delayed the game, which brings me to think of other times in which crazy occurrences have delayed baseball games and two come to mind right away.

Well, there’s the ever-famous Randy Johnson fastball that basically exploded a low-flying bird:

That bird stood no chance against the legendary fireballer who reached 100 mph on a regular basis. However, there is another recent one that comes to mind that had me shaking my head when it happened as well.

Ever heard of a dog delay?

Don’t worry, crazy delays happen. However, whoever was on the opposite end of that falling finger will surely be known for one of the craziest stoppages in baseball play of all time.

Long live the chicken finger delay.
