After what’s been a small wait since the 2015 Major League Baseball season began last week, on Friday we will finally see the Chicago Cubs debut of star prospect Kris Bryant. After having to spend a little over one week in the minors to start the season due to contract reasons, the young slugger will make his debut in the big time when the team takes on the San Diego Padres at home on Friday.
Now given the hype surrounding him and the power at the plate this young stud possesses, you’d imagine that he’d have a pretty prominent place in the batting order, despite this only being his first game on this level.
Well, those assumptions are correct. On Friday morning, the Cubs announced that Bryant will start his Major League career in the cleanup spot, batting right behind Anthony Rizzo.
Again, with his average in the minor leagues this year being significantly better than that of the entire Cubs team so far this year, it’s not really all that much of a shocker that Bryant is slotted in the No. 4 space to start things off.
So, there’s a chance that Cubs fans won’t have to wait long to see this young man at the plate, as he could be up there with the bat in his hands in the bottom of the first inning, should all go well in front of him.
