Angels’ manager Mike Scioscia met with Josh Hamilton this week and he’s a bit frustrated because he doesn’t believe the slugger is getting the help he needs.

It has been widely talked about that Los Angeles Angels‘ slugger Josh Hamilton suffered a relapse in the offseason and must undergo some meetings with MLB and MLB Players’ Association regarding the incident and possible help he needs to get on his way to being reinstated to the team.

Hamilton, a former American League MVP and five-time MLB All-Star had to miss time earlier in his career because of alcohol and cocaine issues that he had seemed to resolve recently. However, he has had relapses in his drug problems in 2009 and 2012, but he has rebounded both times to follow up with solid seasons.

Josh had been one of the best stories in baseball because he overcame much adversity and drug problems to become one of the best players in the league and, like I said, even win an MVP Award in 2010 as he was also the ALCS MVP for the Texas Rangers in the playoffs.

Angels’ manager Mike Scioscia has been meeting with the star and recently he said he had left a meeting feeling frustrated with the slugger.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Scioscia is frustrated because he doesn’t believe Hamilton is getting all the help that he really needs. There’s no way to know what kind, or to what extent, of help he’s getting.

"“We feel that there’s really no clarity that he’s getting the help he needs. That’s a major concern. Hopefully the frustration will start to evaporate as Josh gets through his first physical rehab of getting his shoulder where he needs to be.”"

Hamilton is coming off a surgery on his shoulder on Feb. 4 and he has yet to play a game with the Angels this season. Scioscia is hoping he can get back to form and join the team within the next couple of weeks, but his ‘help’ isn’t coming as strongly as the manager would have hoped.

"“It’s a unique situation. As an organization, first and foremost, we want to make sure Josh is getting the help and support he needs. That’s important for Josh to get back to where he needs to be and getting on the field and playing baseball. Things are open-ended, and there’s a natural frustration I think that goes with uncertainty, and that’s kind of what we’re dealing with.”"

The MLB Players’ Association is backing the superstar former MVP, but the organization is hoping to see him turn a corner in order to have him join the team.

It has to be frustrating to not know if a player is getting the help that he needs.
