NFL Draft Rumors: Raiders interested in Vic Beasley
After sending a large coaching contingency to watch Vic Beasley workout, could the Raiders pair Vic Beasley alongside star linebacker Khalil Mack to form a devastating duo?
Last season the Oakland Raiders did something they aren’t known for. They had a really good draft.

They found a potential quarterback of the future in Derek Carr and made one of the best first round picks when they picked up Khalil Mack, who in his first season became one of the more dominant pass rushers in the league.
Now, with the draft almost near, could the Raiders add another dynamic young pass rusher to pair alongside Mack?
According to reports, the Raiders sent a large contingency to watch Clemson outside linebacker Vic Beasley workout ahead of the draft.
Beasley is expected by many to be one of the first pass rushers to come off the board, and there is a good chance the Raiders could nab him when they draft at No. 4.
The idea of Beasley and Mack together is one that would make many Raiders fans excited. Those two together, would be a weekly nightmare for whatever quarterback is facing them.
While the Raiders had another struggling season last year, the team including it’s defense started to come together at the end.
Adding another dynamic piece could push them even further. With Mack’s pass rushing ability requiring several double teams, it would free up space for Beasley to get after the quarterback. If you’re an aging Peyton Manning, does having two young relentless pass rushers coming after you sound fun?
Interestingly enough, the Raiders along with the Jaguars both sent their defensive line coaches to scout Beasley. Beasley who is one of the best edge rushers in the draft, would certainly have to put on some weight to play in the trenches at the NFL level. Beasley weighed in at the combine at 246 pounds. Which is great for an outside linebacker, but not enough for a defensive end.
The Raiders are under a new regime with head coach Jack Del Rio, who was recently the Broncos defensive coordinator.
Even more interesting, the scouting report on NFL.com compares Beasley to Seahawks linebacker Bruce Irvin. Irvin played for new Raiders defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr. with Norton being the Seattle linebackers coach before being hired by Oakland.
One of Beasley’s best asset according to scouts is his speed. Come April 30, some team is expected to take him very high.
Will that team be the Jaguars at No. 3, the Raiders at No. 4 or someone else? It’s hard to see Beasley lasting much longer than that.
