Milwaukee Bucks big man John Henson had an embarrassing moment in Saturday night’s playoff game against Chicago, missing a dunk badly.

In a game between the Milwaukee Bucks and Chicago Bulls which featured a surprising amount of offense–especially in the first half–John Henson found a way to embarrass himself by doing something offensive.

With the Bucks trailing the Bulls by 11 in the third quarter, Henson executed an excellent role to the rim after a side screen. He caught the pass perfectly from Bucks guard Jerryd Bayless and had an open lane to the rim. And then…dope!

Sure Pau Gasol rotated over to challenge Henson’s dunk opportunity. But this is the NBA, and Henson is a far superior athlete to Gasol, especially at the Spaniards’ advanced age. There’s no way Henson shouldn’t have been able to flush it over Gasol.

Truthfully, though, Gasol had little to do with Henson’s rim rejection. Henson simply blew the dunk. Henson is right-handed, but could easily be thought of as ambidextrous given how often he uses his left hand around the basket.

Bucks writer Jeremy Schmidt confirmed that fact here in 2014. In other words, Henson was dunking on this play with the hand he is probably most comfortable with, the left.

There’s no excuse as to why Henson would miss this dunk–an easy one by NBA standards. Not even playoff nerves should account for it.
