Before you scoff at the notion, and if we all are honest with ourselves, we all love to root against someone. There is that one guy or team that we just love to either chastise or boo. Alex Rodriguez, of course, is clear-cut definition of baseball’s villain.

But no matter how you feel about him or if you feel like every swing he takes is tainted, one thing is for certain, he resembles a threat at the plate so far this season. Thus, making him an intriguing possible addition for fantasy owners. By now, he may be picked up in your leagues as his fast start has been in the headlines nearly every day, but if he is available in your league, pull the trigger and snag the pariah.

If you watch Yankee games you know that early on this season, Rodriguez has carried the offensive load for the team. I never thought I would ever see it nor say it again, but he has certainly proven to be a threat at the plate.

He is still prone to strikeouts, but his eye at the plate and bat speed, shows a guy that may sustain some success. He currently sits in the top 5 in the AL in HR, OBP, and OPS, thus showing that the pop and patience is there.

Strike while the iron is hot, and ride A-Rod for as long as you can, because no matter how you feel, stats are stats at the end of the day. If he helps you win your league or championship, I think you can look past the flaws. I don’t think he will remain this hot all year of course, nor do I think his health will persist, but I do recommend you take advantage of the opportunity if he is still there, as power is a valuable resource.
