Memphis Grizzlies mascot smashes an imitation Portland Trail Blazers mascot through a table, WWE style.

BBQ, Basketball and Wrestling – that’s what Memphis does.

During Game 1 of the Grizzles/Blazers series in Memphis, the Grizzlies mascot, Grizz, got into a fake fight with another mascot who was posing as a Blazers fan. To honor the city’s wrestling history, Grizz jumped off a ladder and landed on the Blazers fan, smashing him through a table, WWE style.

Though it was not as well choreographed as a real WWE fight, it did what it set out to do, get the crowd going.

The Grizzles are not the first team to do something like this. KC Wolf, the Kansas City Chiefs mascot, throws down with the opposing team’s fans prior to each home game.

We are all against real violence, but this is just make believe. If other mascots followed suit, fans would be more entertained. Feuding mascots would bring a different dimension to these early playoff games.

To help out the other NBA playoffs teams, we’ve included some possible ideas for fake mascot fights:

Benny the Bull, the Chicago Bulls mascot, gauging Bango the Buck, the Milwaukee Bucks mascot, with his horns.

Pierre the Pelican, the New Orleans Pelicans mascot, frightening a Golden State Warriors “fan” to death. Seriously, have you seen Pierre? Even though he’s had some “work done” he is still creepy.

Moon Dog, the Cavaliers mascot, biting Lucky the Leprechaun, the Celtics mascot.

Stripes, the Toronto Raptors mascot, going Jurassic Park on G-Wiz, the Wizards mascot.

Clutch the Bear, the Rockets mascot, mauling Champ, the Mavericks mascot.

Harry the Hawk, the Atlanta Hawks mascot, sticking his talons into a Brooklyn

hipster

Nets fan.

The Coyote, the Spurs mascot, attacking a Clippers fan and proceeding to howl at the moon.

The possibilities are endless. After all, mascots are part of the team too. And for the teams that do not have mascots, what are you thinking? Give it a try. The kids love it and it worked out so well for the Cubs.
