Fan asks Dion Waiters for picture thinking he’s Dwyane Wade
Everyone knows how some fans are when it comes to meeting professional athletes, but what happens when you mistake Dion Waiters for Dwyane Wade upon meeting him?

Dion Waiters is a pretty good sport. His Oklahoma City Thunder were eliminated from playoff contention on the final game of the regular season and he’s still spending his time with fans, taking pictures and signing autographs.
Recently when the 23-year-old NBA role player went to the store to pick up some new gear, a worker stopped him and asked for a picture. He thought it was a pretty cool thing that someone recognized him, until he realized who she thought he was: Dwyane Wade.
While Oklahoma City and Miami aren’t particularly close in proximity, neither team made the NBA playoffs, so this fan had one thing right that these two had in common. Waiters and Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade don’t particularly look similar, so this picture is all the more hilarious.
I think the best part is that he let her believe that he was Dwyane Wade and played along with it, later finding the picture on Instagram and showing every one of his 211,000 followers that this girl has no idea what the NBA even is, apparently.
While we don’t exactly know where this picture took place, it may have very well been in Miami, it’s still pretty funny to see fans act like they know who athletes are when there are no jerseys and just regular clothes involved. This poor girl will probably never live it down, and that’s partially Waiters’ fault for posting it on his Instagram, putting her on blast.
However, this isn’t the first time a pro athlete has been mistaken for someone else, or vice versa, as Arian Foster of the Houston Texans took a picture with a fan last year — or so she thought.
Foster was a good sport about it, even tweeting back at the young woman, saying that she was lied to and that wasn’t him in the picture.
This kind of thing will always happen, but will never get old. It’s even better when the athlete gets ahold of the mistaken identities on social media.
