We are three weeks into the fantasy baseball season. While many think it’s still too early to make drastic moves to your roster, I think 15 games is a decent enough sample size to make a move or two. There are players you drafted that are keeping your team strong. On the other hand, there may be some players holding back your team. One of those players could be San Diego Padres second baseman Jedd Gyorko. If you own him, pull the trigger and drop him

Gyorko had a great rookie season, but was unable to carry it over into the 2014 season. He went from 23 home runs to 10 and .249 batting average to .210. Despite the downfall, he was still ranked as a top-20 second baseman heading into Opening Day. It could be based on the lack of depth at the position, but that is a generous rankings based on his 2014 performance.

Owners who drafted Gyorko were hoping for him to return to his rookie form. That hasn’t been the case so far this season. In 11 games, he has seven hits (two doubles), zero home runs, three RBI and a .171/.227/.220 slash line. It doesn’t help that he sat out three games from April 12 to 14.

Gyorko has been losing playing time to former New York Yankees infielder Yangervis Solarte. He’s played in 12 games, has one home run, seven RBI and a .345/.387/.552 line. Owning a player in a timeshare is not what you want to do. If possible, drop Gyorko for an everyday player who is performing (granted, that could be anyone).

Gyorko is still owned in 45.2 percent of ESPN.com leagues. He has lost 27.4 percent of his ownership percentage over the last week. It should be below 20 percent by the end of the week. Some players to pick up in place are DJ LeMahieu and Marcus Semien.

Make the move now and don’t bother looking back.
