Greg Hardy is suspended for the first 10 games of the 2015 season. Who should the Dallas Cowboys consider as potential replacements?

When Greg Hardy’s 10-game suspension without pay was handed down, nobody was surprised, including the Dallas Cowboys. When they signed Hardy this offseason to a one-year deal potential worth $13.1 million, the organization knew they would not be paying that full price due to the pending suspension.

Here is the NFL’s official statement on the matter, via NBC Sports:

"“The net effect of these acts was that Ms. Holder was severely traumatized and sustained a range of injuries, including bruises and scratches on her neck, shoulders, upper chest, back, arms and feet. The use of physical force under the circumstances present here, against a woman substantially smaller than you and in the presence of powerful, military-style assault weapons, constitutes a significant act of violence in violation of the Personal Conduct Policy.”"

While the team may have not foreseen the lengthy suspension, it was a given that their new defensive end’s indefensible actions would cost him a good portion of the 2015 regular season, and is likely why they offered him such a ridiculous sum of money.

It is not like the Cowboys have a gaping hole at defensive end, either, considering both of their starting ends from the 2014 season when they went 12-4 are still with the team. Even if there was a major void, all of the big name defensive ends signed elsewhere during free agency, unless you want to bring in the ancient Dwight Freeney.

Therefore, the Cowboys should look at the draft to fill a temporary need, while in the meantime building an imposing defensive front for the future.
