Landon Collins visits Pittsburgh Steelers
By Ernie Padaon
The Pittsburgh Steelers brought in Alabama safety Landon Collins in for a pre-draft visit on Wednesday.
The Pittsburgh Steelers will be without the All-Pro playmaker in their secondary this season. Troy Polamalu has hung up the cleats and the Steelers will be looking to fill his spot on the roster. It will be some gigantic shoes to fill for the next person thrown into the mix.

At the moment, the Steelers have Mike Mitchell and Shamarki Thomas as the starting safeties of the depth chart. The team will be looking for more help at the position during the NFL Draft. One player that the Steelers will have their eyes on is Alabama safety Landon Collins.
Landon Collins was in town on Wednesday to meet up with the Steelers to see if he is a potential fit on the roster, per Pro Football Talk. The Steelers wrapped up their pre-draft visits with him on Wednesday and should have a good idea on what they will do when their selection is up.
Collins is expected the be the first safety taken off of the board and could be a player that the Steelers will take with the 22nd selection. The Steelers could be very interested in finding their next starter at safety, but the team also could be looking to add a pass rusher or corner with their first selection in the draft. The team has big needs at both of those spots as well.
Collins is expected to be taken in the first round or early in the 2nd round. If the Steelers do not take him with the 22nd selection, then he likely will not make it around to the Steelers when they select again.
Collins will not be Troy Polamalu, but he can be a star if he is allowed to attack on defense. He is great at at getting after the running game and he is always looking to make a big hit and he will make the tackles in the open field. He isn’t the best in coverage though and will need help from his teammates in that department.
In the Steelers seconday, he would be allowed to make the plays against the run, but he would also be asked to stop the tight ends and to make some plays in the passing game. He will have to improve in that department to be a solid player in the league. Will he get that chance with the Steelers?
