Monta Ellis bricked a shot that would have tied the game versus the Houston Rockets in the fourth quarter.

So after tonight we can safely say the Golden State Warriors made the right call in keeping Stephen Curry and letting go of Monta Ellis (if that were ever in question).

One night after Curry rocked the NBA world with an insane three-point hit to tie the game in New Orleans and cap an insane 20-point fourth quarter deficit, his former backcourt mate in Golden State, Monta Ellis, bricked a similar attempt.

Like Curry, he took an off balance shot with mere seconds remaining on the clock in the fourth quarter. Unlike Curry it was a long two. And unlike Curry, he came up well shy of the mark.

It’s also questionable whether Dallas in that situation really wanted Ellis, and not Dirk Nowitzki taking the potential tying shot.

It seemed as if the Mavs were trying to run Nowitzki off a screen to get him a look around the 3-point line. But Rockets glove-in-hand defender Trevor Ariza bottled up that action leaving Ellis to an isolation against Josh Smith, who earlier fell down when he wasn’t really even covering anyone.

Ellis pulled up, taking an off-balance shot against the long-armed defender, and simply bricked it. Like bad.
