Daily Fantasy Baseball: Late DraftKings Picks For April 25
By Rich Pelesky
Here are my selections for DraftKings’ evening slate (starting at 7:05pm) on Saturday April 25th, 2015. There is a good mix of higher salary safe bets and lower salary bargains to pick from as you fill out your lineups. Good Luck!

Pitchers
Brandon McCarthy (LAD) at SD for $8800: He is going to get you strikeouts (25K in 3 games) – something you must have at this price. McCarthy pitched much better his last time out vs. COL at home, recovering from a couple of rough outings to start the season in which the long ball got him in trouble. That should not be a factor tonight at pitcher-friendly Petco Park.
Trevor May (MIN) at SEA for $6,200: This pick is mostly about the value, which you need to get on FK, especially if you are paying a lot for your other starter. May is unspectacular, but has a good WHIP (1.15) and a decent strikeout rate w/ 8 Ks in 11 1/3 IP. Most importantly he’s facing Seattle (22nd in the majors with only 3.75 runs per game) at Safeco Field (28th in park factor runs in 2014) with less than stellar James Paxson (8.40 ERA) on the mound.
Infielders
Albert Pujols (LAA) 1B vs. TEX for $4100: Albert is off to a slow start, but he’ll inevitably heat up and when he does few hitters can put up stats like he can. Look for him to do well against Colby Lewis (7 of 15 with 2 HRs lifetime), hitting in the middle of a decent Angels lineup at home.
Dustin Pedroia (BOS) 2B at BAL for $4100: Pedroia, who has 4 HRs already, will be batting against Bruce Chen which he owns a whopping .517 average (15 in 29 AB) against. Plus he hit over .350 against the Orioles in 2014. In the 2B position tonight where there’s not a lot of good hitters/good ball park matchups, Pedroia is your best bet to put up a big number.
Aramis Ramirez (MIL) 3B vs. STL for $3500: Ramirez and the Brewers are struggling, but this is a spot where he could blow up. He’s at home facing Adam Wainwright against whom he holds an unignorable .365 lifetime average with 3 HR, 12 RBIs in 63 ABs. Wainwright took the loss at home last time he faced the Brewers on 4/13, and now faces them in hitter’s paradise Miller Park.
Outfielders
Carl Crawford (LAD) OF at SD for $3700: He hit a homer last night against the Padres and has a favorable Lefty/Righty matchup tonight against Ian Kennedy (.414 lifetime with 5 SBs in 29 ABs), who’s fresh off the DL. In the last 2 seasons, Crawford holds a .361 avg. (38 for 105) against San Diego.
Andrew McCutchen (PIT) OF at ARZ for $5300: The price tag is high, but McCutchen is one of the best players in the game and has torched the Diamondbacks in his career, especially at hitter friendly Chase Field (.441 in 34 AB since 2013). And with him facing Ruby De La Rosa (6.00 ERA and 1.56 WHIP in 2015), Cutch could go off and reward your investment.
