Korean baseball team the Hanwha Eagles had runners on the corners in the fourth inning and they tried to run a squeeze play that didn’t exactly work as expected. The opposing team, the SK Wyverns, decided to pitchout Eagles shortstop Kwon Yong-kwan even as the runner on third was racing home. Kwon had no choice but to try and throw his bat at the pitch in an attempt to save the runner. He missed, and the runner, Choi Jin-haeng, was tagged out by the catcher at home.

Watch below.

It was a good effort by the Eagles shortstop, but to no avail. Last year, Texas Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus tried to do basically the same thing in a game against the A’s in Oakland. In that situation it was a pitchout designed to pick off the runner trying to steal second.

Like the Eagles shortstop, Andrus missed the ball, but his antics so distracted the A’s catcher that his pickoff throw went sailing into center field and allowed the runner, Michael Choice, to safely reach second base. You have to admit, even though it technically didn’t work, it worked.

You miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take, right?
