Shaq calls Charles Barkley a ‘buttface’ on TNT (Video)

The NBA on TNT crew tends to wade into juvenile waters more than once a broadcast, and Shaq reminded us of that on Sunday night.

One of the reasons we love the NBA on TNT crew is their witty banter that feels like  an evolved take on the SNL skit from the 90s that celebrated an obsession of all things Chicago and Mike Ditka. Replace that Chicago angle and the obsession with Mike Ditka with all things basketball and yo have a pretty good idea of how the TNT broadcasts often times go.

We saw another example of that on Sunday afternoon when Shaq tried to say things, Charles Barkley wouldn’t let him and things went downhill from there.

Shaq was asked what he thought what needed to happen for the teams up 3-0 in their series to win, and for teams down in a hole to win, and his response was met with some pushback from Charles Barkley.

As Chuck should know, Shaq doesn’t take any pushback.

This is one of the reasons people both love and loathe the NBA on TNT few as their analysis is at times great and the banter is often witty — but we’re not above elementary insults.

Of course, Charles Barkley has been on his fair share of roasts thanks to his feeling about analytics, and many believe that his idea of watching good basketball consists of the type of analysis that Shaq was laying down.

Then again, the NBA on TNT crew makes the games fun, and that’s really all we want at the end of the day.
