Toronto Sun trolls Raptors for playoff flame out (Photo)

The Toronto Raptors flamed out this season, and they are getting trolled by their own hometown sports page after the way they ended their season.

It was looking like the Toronto Raptors might be one of the dark horse teams to make a run at the NBA Finals, but that all changed in a big way on Sunday night. It wasn’t just that the Raptors lost — again — in the first round of the postseason, it was how they lost.

The Raptors waved the white flag early on in the third quarter against the Washington Wizards as they were blown out of the postseason in a series sweep.

The Toronto Sun has gone from trolling the Wizards to digging in on the Raptors for the way they ended their incredible season.

That’s harsh, but it’s totally justifiable as well. The Raptors were, at one point this season, in the hunt to be the best team in the Eastern Conference. That is hardly what the looked like on Sunday night when they were promptly ushered out of the postseason by the Washington Wizards.

It was about as embarrassing a way for the Raptors to flame out as possible, as the Boston Celtics put up more of a fight than the Raptors did, as did the similarly lower seeded New Orleans Pelicans. It was a rough series for Toronto and while their great season deserves recognition, so too does their nasty flame out at the end of the year.
