Anthony Davis is reportedly going to get a max contract with the Pelican’s. Does the 22 year old forward deserve one?

After the New Orleans Pelican’s playoff hopes were thwarted by the Golden State Warriors in four games this weekend, Anthony Davis will reportedly be offered a max contract by the organization. His 31.5 points per game in the playoffs are good for second in the NBA, currently. Additionally, he led the Pelicans to their first playoff berth since 2011 this year.

Not too bad for just his third year in the NBA. The star forward has really come into his own since joining the Pelicans in 2012. Besides, if Joe Johnson deserves a max contract, I don’t want to live in a world where Anthony Davis doesn’t.

His constant improvement from 13.5 points per game his rookie season to 24.4 this year have made him the most valuable pieces to the Pelicans roster. He will go out there every night and not just score but also pass, rebound, and play defense. He is the future of the Pelicans whose place on New Orleans should not be jeopardized by attempting to low ball the superstar.

Absolutely, Anthony Davis deserves a max deal. In the next ten years, I wouldn’t be surprised if Anthony Davis becomes the best player in basketball. As LeBron continues to age, Davis is still young and ready to perform at a high level. So why not give him the deal he deserves.
