When the Angels traded Josh Hamilton back to the Rangers, many people were stunned that the two sides would come together once again.

People were also shocked that the Angels who had to chip in cash were able to even move Hamilton after his issues with relapsing with drugs.

Still, Hamilton found his way back home to Texas where he enjoyed the greatest successes of his career, winning an MVP and going to two straight World Series.

With the Angels, Hamilton was never able to replicate the same success and the Angels eventually moved him back home.

It turns out that before the Angels traded Hamilton back to Texas, Hamilton vetoed a trade to another club according to Ken Rosenthal.

While, a player giving up cash to go a desired team in a trade isn’t something that happens often, Hamilton returning to Texas makes all the sense in the world for him.

He had great success with the franchise and the organization always stood by his side and he was in the news for baseball reasons and not off the field reasons.

While the team might have different personnel in place, it’s a team he feels comfortable with and a place he can call home.

Despite the fact that Hamilton said the area wasn’t a baseball town after he left, he brought more success to the franchise than anyone else ever has and he will have a great support group with the franchise and a fan base that can certainly help get behind him.

If he can help the team return to success and find their winning ways again, it will be a great story for both Hamilton and the Rangers. While Angels manager Mike Scioscia said he wasn’t sure that Hamilton was getting the help that he needs, maybe returning to the field in Texas is exactly what he needs.

While Hamilton is soon to be 34 years old and his last two years have seen a decline in his performance, perhaps a park he is comfortable in will provide an uptick in performance at the plate.

Those reasons alone make all the sense in the world why Hamilton would veto a trade to a different team. At this point in Hamilton’s career, he needs to be somewhere where he can have a shot at success and Texas offers him the best shot at achieving success.
