Daily Fantasy Baseball: DraftKings Pitcher Picks For April 28
By Rich Pelesky
Below are my DraftKings pitcher picks for April 28. My hot streak with #1 SP picks continues as David Price (21.45 FP) and Taijan Walker (25.5) both produced last night, especially Walker who had a stellar 3.9 FP per $1000 in salary. Tonight is a clear-cut two-tiered pitcher slate, with many strong SPs at $8300 + and a lot of question marks $7700 and below. As usual, but especially tonight, look to pair one of the high-priced surer bets with one of the low-priced pitchers in order to leave some salary space for bats. Good Luck!
High End ($8300 and up)
Johnny Cueto (CIN) vs. MIL for $10400: Cueto has been his dominant self so far in 2015, with an outstanding 1.86 ERA, 0,83 WHIP and 32 K in 29 IP while averaging a huge 26.6 FPPG. He’s goes up against the woeful 4-16 Brewers at home, where the Reds are over a 2 to 1 favorite. The only disadvantage is that he may be owned by many others, but it is hard to turn down the potential reward even for the 2nd highest price on the board. Take Johnny and look at one of my two Low End suggestions below.
Honorable Mention: Sonny Gray (OAK) vs. LAA for $8500: This young star continues to impress in 2015 with a 2-0 record along with a 1.91 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and has put up 20.5 FPPG. The As are facing the Angels at home where they are around a -150 favorite. Additionally, Gray is 3-1 with a 2.45 ERA and 43 K (in 44 IP) in 6 career starts vs. LAA.
Stay Away: Madison Bumgarner (SF) vs. LA for $10000. Bumgarner is undoubtedly one of the best pitchers in the game, but this is simply not a good spot (and price) for him to give you a solid return on investment. In 4 starts, his DK salary has been between $9800 – $10800 but he has averaged 11.4 FPPG with a high game of only 18.4 FP. And to make matters worse, he faces reigning NL Cy Young and MVP Clayton Kershaw in LA against the Dodgers.

Low End ($7700 and below)
Archie Bradley (ARZ) vs. COL for $6100: This stud rookie has lived up to expectations with a 2-0 record, 1.45 ERA, and 0.96WHIP (18.9 FPPG) while earning quality starts in all of his first three outings. The only real blemish on his season stat line is an unsightly 11 walks. He takes the mound for the heavily favored Diamondbacks against a Rockies team that is 28th in the league in walks. Look past the ball park tonight and pick him up for this small price.
Honorable Mention: Anibal Sanchez (DET) at MIN for $7700. Sanchez has had an up and down year with two very bad starts sandwiched between two very good starts. His overall stats are unimpressive (1-2, 5.96 ERA, 1.27 WHIP) but the proven righty is coming off a 25.3 FP outing vs. the Yankees. Lastly, the Tigers are 4-0 vs. MIN this season, outscoring them 27 to 6, so getting the bonus 4 points for a win here is very plausible.
Stay Away: Hector Noesi (CWS) vs. BAL for $5600: The White Sox are confident after taking 2 straight from KC, but look for that streak to stop tonight (if they actually play) against a Baltimore team that put up some huge offensive numbers against Boston this past weekend. The left-handed Noesi has a 0-2 record with a 5.23 ERA and 1.45 WHIP so far and has to face a formidable Oriole lineup led by Adam Jones, who is hitting over .400 with 5 HRs and 18 RBIs.
