The Chicago Bears are in a season where they need to win now, and John Fox was brought in to be the new head coach for that very reason. It will be a hard road back for the Bears, but they’re armed with a Top 10 pick in the NFL Draft and that’s a great place to start rebuilding.
Who will they take with the No. 7 overall pick though?
Mike Mayock released his annual mock draft on Wednesday night, and he mocked out who he thinks the Bears will be taking. Last year, Mayock had the Bear selecting Calvin Pryor out of Louisville with the No. 14 overall pick. That’s not what ended up happening though as the Bears passed on Pryor to draft cornerback Kyle Fuller out of Virginia Tech.
That ended up being a great move, as Fuller quickly became a stud rookie in the Bears defense and took over for Charles Tillman — who he has now officially replaced.
This year Mike Mayock has the Bears selecting Trae Waynes with the No. 7 overall pick in the draft.
So how did fans react to this pick?
Chicago needs to figure out their offense, but there are needs on the defensive side of the ball as well. There are holes on defense where there is just problems on offense. Everything offensively flows through Jay Cutler and depends on him getting his head straight.
Defensively, the Bears ned to farm talent and develop prospects, which is why Mayock has the team going in the direction he does. The only question is, will things work out this well for the Bears when the NFL Draft officially gets underway.
