It has been an offseason of change in Chicago with general manager Phil Emery and head coach Marc Trestman fired after a disappointing 5-11 season. In comes Ryan Pace as the Bears’ new general manager and his first move was hiring former Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers head coach John Fox.

Pace was busy in the offseason as he signed players he believes will be able to help Fox get the Bears back into the postseason, at least the postseason conversation, with notable acquisitions of Pernell McPhee, Antrel Rolle, Mason Foster and Ray McDonald to upgrade a defense with several deficiencies.

Chicago also let Charles Tillman and Stephen Paea leave via free agency and traded former Pro Bowl receiver Brandon Marshall to the New York Jets along with a seventh round pick for their fifth round pick. The biggest move they made was the one they didn’t make as they didn’t find a trade partner for the much maligned Jay Cutler.

The Bears own the seventh pick in the first four rounds and round six. In last year’s draft, the Bears they traded fifth-round selections in 2014 and 2015 to the Broncos for 2014 fourth round pick Brock Vereen and seventh rounder Charles Leno, Jr.

Pace filled some of the areas of need in free agency so the Bears should be able to take the best player available when the draft begins on Thursday night with the first round and won’t have to reach for a player to fill a position of need.

That said, there are still many needs on this team, including quarterback, rush linebacker, defensive end, inside linebacker, safety, nose tackle, wide receiver and cornerback in no particular order.

With their first pick they should be able to address the rush linebacker spot if they like Vic Beasley, Bud Dupree or Shane Ray or they could take either Kevin White or Amari Cooper if either receiver is still on the board. Any other position in the first round would be a surprise should they stay at No. 7.

Here’s the complete list of draft picks for the Bears entering the 2015 NFL Draft:

First round: 7th overall selection

Second round: 39th overall selection

Third round: 71st overall selection

Fourth round: 106th overall selection

Fifth round: 142nd overall selection

Sixth round: 182nd overall selection
