NFL Draft results 2015: Philadelphia Eagles take Nelson Agholor with No. 20 pick
Chip Kelly and the Eagles have shocked the NFL all offseason long. Would that trend continue on Draft Day?
Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly has made bold moves all offseason, but somehow in the middle of trading away a top-three running back talent in LeSean McCoy, swapping Nick Foles for the injury prone Sam Bradford and bringing in Tim Tebow for who knows what reason, he has turned the Eagles into a contender. Kelly has led the team out of the NFC cellar and has produced back-to-back 10-win seasons.
So on Draft Day at pick No. 20, what crazy move could Kelly pull off next?
The secondary and wide receiver are both glaring team needs, but unfortunately, the best prospects at those positions were already off the board, with the exception of two very big wide-outs with very big question marks.
Doral Green-Beckham is a truly dynamic playmaker. He is also a major head-case, who was kicked off of the team at Missouri after a multitude of arrests and off the field incidents.
Breshad Perriman is a player with blinding speed and incredible athleticism, but he has a big problem for a wide receiver; he struggles to catch the football.
Both players are big-time playmakers, however, and that is exactly what the Eagles’ offense needs. Instead they went with another wide receiver in USC’s Nelson Agholor.
While he is not as talented as the other two receivers mentioned above, Agholor is a solid receiver that, despite only standing six feet tall, has game-changing abilities as well.
His ability to make an impact at receiver or as a return specialist has an eery resemblance to the recently departed Jeremy Maclin, as well. While it is not the choice I would go with, he is a polished receiver that should see significant playing time as a rookie.
