With the number 6 pick in the NFL Draft, the New York Jets select Leonard Williams.

The New York Jets held the number 6 pick in the NFL draft. The Jets were 4-12 last season and will be looking to find an impact player in the draft. They entered the draft with the questions of Geno Smith at quarterback and many people wondered if they would make a play for Marcus Mariota.

The team will be looking for a pass rusher in the draft to team up with Muhammad Wilkerson. They will also be looking for some help up front on the offensive line. Other positions the Jets are looking to fill are at running back and wide receiver.

The Jets could be interested in a top pass rusher in the draft and all the top guys were still available when they made their selection. The quarterbacks were taken with the first couple of picks in the draft and that took the possibility of taking Mariota off of the board. The possibility of taking the top rated player in the draft did exist though when they were on the clock. Leonard Williams was ranked as the top player in the draft by many experts, but the top 5 teams all skipped him with their selections.

Williams slipped out of the top 5 because of concerns for a shoulder injury and the Jets were not concerned with the shoulder and added the big man to their defensive line. The Jets are going to have a sick defense with Wilkerson and Williams up front and Darrelle Revis in the secondary.

How will the selection of Williams affect Wilkerson and his big payday? Wilkerson will be looking for a big money deal, but the Jets already have his replacement on the roster.
