The Tennessee Titans select Marcus Mariota with the number 2 pick in the draft.

The Tennessee Titans held the 2nd selection in the NFL Draft and were surrounded by trade talk weeks before the draft. The team was linked to Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers for a little bit. The team also was linked to the Cleveland Browns and their first round picks. The team of course was linked to Chip Kelly and the Philadelphia Eagles. There was even talk about the Chicago Bears moving up to take Mariota with the selection. None of that talk actually led to a trade. At least not yet.

With the 2nd selection in the draft, the Tennessee Titans took Marcus Mariota out of Oregon. If the Titans keep him, he will be the starting quarterback for Ken Whisenhunt and the offense. The trade talk will still be there for the Titans though as the draft continues. There are a number of teams that would be interested in getting Mariota onto their roster, so the talk will still remain for a little while longer.

The Titans were not able to pull off a trade at the time of their selection, but the possibility is still there. I am sure that the team is working the phones.

If the Titans keep him on the roster, the team will have to flip the offense a little bit in order to let Mariota play at a high level. Zach Mettenberger would have to head to the bench and would likely be mentioned in some trade talks in the future if Mariota sticks around. Mariota will have Justin Hunter and Delanie Walker to work with on offense.

Does anyone think that the Titans will keep Mariota on the roster? Will someone try to make a trade to take him off of the Titans hands?

Here is Mariota hearing himself getting selected:

Everyone believed that Mariota would be the number 2 selection in the draft and it all played out that way. All the trade talk all led to nothing … at least nothing to this point.
