As the NFL Draft gets closer, there might be three teams considering running back Todd Gurley in the top 10.

Plenty of mock drafts have running back Todd Gurley going in the First Round of the NFL Draft, but according to Todd McShay, there are three teams in the top 10 that are considering taking Gurley. The question is, which teams are those? The top 10 teams are as follows:

1.Tampa Bay Buccaneers

2.Tennessee Titans

3.Jacksonville Jaguars

4.Oakland Raiders

5.Washington Redskins

6.New York Jets

7.Chicago Bears

8.Atlanta Falcons

9.New York Giants

10.St. Louis Rams

More than likely the Bucs and Titans picks are going to the top two quarterback and that remains likely even if one or the other trade their picks. The Falcons don’t seem likely to take Gurley as defensive-minded new head coach Dan Quinn will be looking for defense. There’s even rumors that the Falcons might trade with the Seahawks for linebacker Bruce Irvin.

The Jaguars, Rams and Giants seem like the teams that most need a running back. The Jaguars, because they obviously need something to help them be competitive. Stuck in perpetual rebuilding mode for years, they drafted quarterback Blake Bortles last year in an attempt to get that position going. Bortles did not have a good year, throwing 17 interceptions to 11 touchdowns. In other words, the Jaguars have a lot of problems and it’s not clear a top tier running back will change that. But it can’t hurt right?

The Rams are another team that didn’t have much going for them last year and running back was one of the weak spots. Tre Mason put up 765 yards, four touchdowns and a 4.3 YPC average. Like the Jaguars, the Rams have had a lot of problems and seem to be stuck in perpetual rebuilding mode in the last few years. A running game might get them going again.

The Giants had a woeful running game last year with Andre Williams having a 3.3 YPC average and a total of 721 yards. Rashad Jennings had a 3.8 average in rushing for 167 yards. The Giants did add Shane Vareen from the Patriots, but it’s not like he was a world-beater either. The Giants definitely have questions at running back and they might be thinking how great it would be to have a back like Gurley to give Eli Manning a weapon besides Odell Beckham Jr.

The other teams primarily have needs other than running back, but if the Jags don’t take Gurley, any of the ones below them might consider him simply as the best available at the time.
