Carmelo Anthony marched in Baltimore alongside others who were protesting police brutality and the death of Freddie Gray.

Carmelo Anthony marched with protestors in Baltimore over the recent police brutality allegations and death of Freddie Gray. Carmelo marched along signs with slogans such as “Stop Racist Police Terror,” “#BlackLivesMatter,” and, “No Justice No Peace!”

Carmelo is a very high-profile personality, so his attendance at the protest speaks for the cause. Carmelo is standing up for what he believes and using his star power to try and make a change.

Carmelo grew up in Baltimore. It was there that he started to pick up an interest in sports. It makes sense then that Carmelo would return to participate in the protests happening in the area.

Carmelo also took to his own Instagram page to state his views on the developing situation in Baltimore. Carmelo wrote about his hometown city in the caption of an Instagram post. You can view the picture and coinciding statement below.

The death of Freddie Gray must hit close to home for Carmelo. In his Instagram post, Carmelo warns against rioting and destroying the city he grew up in. He implores those in Baltimore to think about the children and to “build our city up not tear it down.” Baltimore has a fond place in Carmelo’s heart and it is obvious that he wants to do all that he can to protect it. His presence speaks a lot about the dedication he has to the city of Baltimore.
