Floyd Mayweather is banning Rachel Nichols and Michelle Beadle from media credentials before the fight with Manny Pacquiao this evening.

In order to get banned from a media credential, you would have to really tick off the wrong person. Well, apparently Michelle Beadle and Rachel Nichols did just that to Floyd Mayweather. The undefeated champion is banning the two female reporters from the MGM Grand Arena.

Rachel Nichols received the same ban as well from the Floyd Mayweather team.

The ban is most likely in a response to the two reporters separately asking hard hitting questions about and taking a stance on Mayweather’s past with domestic violence.

In 2010, he was arrested and served time in jail for punching his wife in the face and threatening to kill her and his three children. Since then, DeadSpin released a story that cited seven different occasions where Floyd Mayweather was accused of the abuse of women.

In an interview before his last fight, Rachel Nichols inquired about all these incidents and weather or not Mayweather thinks people should cheer for him. She was adamant about getting some sort of apology or at least some understanding as to why Mayweather thinks he can get away with abusing women.

Mayweather’s response was less than eloquent.

The interview was anything but light-hearted. Mayweather is used to being interviewed specifically about his fighting in the ring. Nichols made sure to ask him about his fights away from the ring in an effort to get some sort of explanation of his past behavior.

Similarly, Michelle Beadle called out Mayweather for abusing women at the 2014 ESPY awards. The two reporters aren’t afraid to go where other reporters won’t. They won’t the true side of this fighter to be shown. Which is difficult for people to handle sometimes. But Nichols and Beadle do what they feel is best for this pressing issue in professional sports. For that, they got banned from the biggest fight either has been alive for.

Floyd Mayweather does make it pretty hard to root for him. Not only does he not seem apologetic about his past, but also he is unwilling to address it. It is clear that with the banning of Beadle and Nichols that Mayweather doesn’t want to talk about any of the pressing issues surrounding him and the abuse of women. So for now, Mayweather will get to hide behind his power as one of the wealthiest athletes in the world and not get confronted about anything that is negative about his character.
