Mayweather camp: Rachel Nichols was only given temporary credential
The saga of the credentials for Rachel Nichols and Michelle Beadle has been ongoing and now has another update.
Before the biggest boxing bout in quite some time, the story of the day has been the issue with the credentials of Rachel Nichols and Michelle Beadle.
At the beginning of the day Nichols and Beadle both took to Twitter to let everyone know that the Mayweather camp banned them from ringside.
Then after some backlash, they were immediately given their credentials and Mayweather’s camp denied that they ever blocked the two female journalists from being able to do their job.
It’s a story that’s been filled with twist and turns all day.
Now it appears that there’s another update on the reasons for the issues with the credentials. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Schaap, there was miscommunication between CNN and Mayweather Promotions.
It now sounds like that Nichols may have been issued the wrong credential.
However, Nichols getting the wrong credential is unrelated to Beadle getting banned from the MGM.
With each update, this situation is starting to get more and more strange and it makes less sense with each one.
So we’ve gone from the two being banned, to the two being issued wrong credentials and not being allowed to film. For two of the top female journalists, this doesn’t sound like an issue that should be happening to either of them.
Whatever the case may be with the credentials, both Nichols and Beadle have decided to not attend and won’t be there tonight when Mayweather takes on Manny Pacquiao.
