Floyd Mayweather wanted to challenge Manny Pacquiao’s gloves before their big showdown, but the request was denied

Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao just couldn’t go off without a hitch, could it? Well, apparently Mayweather tried to cause a hitch, but he was denied.

Friday night Mayweather wanted to have Manny Pacquiao’s gloves, which had already been approved by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, inspected once again. The Reyes gloves that Pacquiao wears were inspected earlier in the week and were found to be good to go for the battle on Saturday night.

Now the contract states that, while Mayweather will wear Grant gloves and Pacquiao will wear Reyes, neither of the pairs can be horse-hair-style. Again, Pacquiao’s gloves had been inspected earlier in the week and were approved, but the Mayweather camp wanted them checked again a few hours after the weigh-ins occurred in Las Vegas.

Now for those that are unaware of what horse-hair-style gloves are, it’s what the padding is made of on the inside. The padding made of the horse hair can commonly make the punches be packed with a little more power, and Mayweather’s camp claimed that all Reyes gloves are horse hair.

But, again, while the Mayweather camp tried to make something controversial here at the 11th hour, they were unsuccessful as they were denied from having the gloves inspected.
