Now that the NFL Draft is over, what running backs that didn’t go drafted are available?

The NFL Draft has come and gone, but there’s still plenty of talent to be had and gems to be found as teams churn the roster trying to find players that can help their team.

Over the course of history, there has been some talented undrafted running backs, much like Houston Texans running back Arian Foster.

Usually to make a roster, an undrafted free agent running back has to be talented at more aspects than running the football. If a player can play special teams and be a contributor there, they will have a chance to compete for a final roster spot.

This year’s running back class was one of the deepest in recent memory as it featured backs Todd Gurley and Melvin Gordon, who are both expected to be dynamic players in this league.

That doesn’t mean a dynamic player isn’t out there ready to be signed right now.

Here are the available undrafted free agents at the running back spot.

Running backs:

Malcolm Brown, Texas
Zach Zenner, South Dakota State
Dominique Brown, Louisville
Terrence Magee, LSU
Malcolm Agnew, Southern Illinois
Dee Hart, Colorado State
Trey Williams, Texas A&M
Tyler Varga, Yale
John Crockett, North Dakota St.
B.J. Catalon, TCU
Terrell Watson, Azusa Pacific
Jahwan Edwards, Ball State
Synjyn Days, Georgia Tech
Corey Grant, Auburn
Thomas Rawls, Central Michigan
John Scheuerman, Louisiana-Lafayette
Brandon Wegher, Morningside
Travon Van, Montana

All of these backs have the potential to be a diamond in the rough, and if a team plays their cards right, they might very well have the next Arian Foster on their hands.

Also with the league’s new rules regarding practice squad expansion, there’s a very good chance that many of these guys could make a roster in some capacity.

If they can run the ball, block and play special teams, there’s a good chance these backs will be signed pretty quickly.
