Desmond Jennings, center fielder for the Tampa Bay Rays, is going to be placed on the 15-day disabled list. Jennings has not played a game since April 25th because of a sore left knee. Jennings told the Associate Press, “It’s just frustrating” going on the DL because he wants to be out there playing with his teammates.
The most jaw-dropping number in all of this is 14. Fourteen is the number of players that the Tampa Bay Rays have had to place on the disabled list already in 2015. That is crazy. Tampa Bay’s offense is the 4th worst in the majors, and I can see why. A team has to have healthy players in order to be successful.

The only player that is healthy and playing well right now is Evan Longoria. Longoria is batting .280 on the year, but he only has one home run, which is uncharacteristic of Longoria. Longoria is a much better hitter, but he is getting no help. The only reason the Rays are doing decent is because of their 9th ranked pitching staff.
Jennings has batted .222 thus far in 2015, which is not anything a fantasy owner craves. Jennings is a very good hitter and base stealer, as he leads the Rays with 5 stolen bases on the season. Jennings needs to get healthy in order for his fantasy value to rise.
I think that Jennings has the potential to be a good fantasy outfielder, but so far this season he hasn’t proven that he can be a consistent fantasy player. He has zero home runs and two RBI on the season, so if you have the chance to drop Jennings, get rid of him. I am 1000 percent positive you can find someone better than Jennings on your waiver wire.
