Pacquiao’s family thinks Mayweather fight was staged
Floyd Mayweather Jr. defeated Manny Pacquiao in a unanimous decision this past Saturday, but Pacquiao’s family believes that the fight was staged.
The title fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao may have finally taken place after a five year wait, one that seemed like an eternity for boxing fans, but do not expect the talk surrounding The Fight of the Century to come to an end anytime soon.
Pacquiao’s family were among the first people caught on camera reacting to the loss, and as you can expect they were not thrilled with the judges, who awarded Mayweather a unanimous decision.
I understand where the Pacquiao family’s frustration is coming from, and from outside the ring, I could see how someone could believe Pacquiao deserved to win. He kept the fight interesting all night long, attacking and throwing punches, while Mayweather danced around the ring as he always does. He also delivered several powerful punches that brought the crowd at the MGM Grand to their feet.
Unfortunately, the fight was out of reach by the time the later rounds of the bout came upon us, and it was clear that Pacquiao had to go for the knockout blow if he was going to win. He never was able to land it, and I am not sure how he did not understand that he was losing the fight.
"“I thought I won the fight. He didn’t do nothing except move outside,” Pacquiao said after the bout, via Fox Sports. “I got him many times; I saw the punches.”"
Pacquiao is not wrong, he did land plenty of punches, and Mayweather did not do much but move around and tire out his opponent. However, when Mayweather decided to throw a punch, he made sure it counted, and it was obvious to anybody viewing on television that he was in complete control during the final rounds.
If Pacquiao’s family watches the replay of the fight, I am sure they will see the same thing that everyone else in the world did, and that was a bout in which Mayweather was in complete control.
It is unfortunate that the championship belt is going to a serial woman abuser, but you have to tip your hat to him for his prowess in the boxing ring. After all, boxing is all that the man has, evidenced by him being booed out of his own city after winning a title fight.
