Verlander replies to trolls who say he isn’t rehabbing hard enough with tough-looking selfie.

Justin Verlander has a message – and a selfie – for all of the haters trolling him on Instagram.

Verlander, the Detroit Tigers pitcher who is currently rehabbing a strained tricep, traveled with his team to Chicago for a three game series against the White Sox.

Verlander, who has yet to pitch thus far in the regular season, took advantage of the trip to the Windy City and brought along girlfriend Kate Upton.

Verlander is doing what any guy with a girlfriend would do while in Chicago. He’s buying her dinner and taking her to see the Beluga Whales at Shedd Aquarium. Nothing to see here, right?

Well, some of Verlander’s Instagram followers used the platform to voice their displeasure with the Ace, letting him know that he should be spending less time seeing the sites and more time rehabbing. Verlander, rightfully, told them off.

While the selfie is…questionable, the message is spot on. No one wants Verlander back on the hill more than he does. It’s in his best interest to do anything he can to get better.

To the haters, leave the guy alone. It’s a free trip to one of the world’s most beautiful, fun-filled cities, don’t act like you wouldn’t do exactly the same thing.

To Justin, do your thing bro. Don’t let the haters get you down. In fact, why not rub it in their faces by posting more photos. From someone who lives in Chicago, here are my suggestions for stereotypical, incredibly tourist-y activities you and Kate can partake in:

Grab a drink at the top of the Hancock building. Just make sure you go at sunset so that you can fight other tourists for window space to best capture the view.

Eat some deep dish at one of the city’s well-known establishments. I would recommend one, but I’d rather not offend any of my fellow Chicagoans. People are super sensitive about that here. A simple Google search should suffice.

Walking down to the Lakeshore to get a picture of yourselves in front of the city’s iconic skyline. I’d recommend North Avenue beach.

If you found this list at all helpful, feel free to stop by the FanSided office and tell me yourself. You can leave Kate at one of the shops on Oak Street, she’ll be fine.
