Zack Greinke pulled out the bat flip Tuesday night after a double

The unwritten rule behind the bat flip is that it should only be used “special occasions,” such as home runs and any sort of game-winning hit that goes off the wall. They’re not really meant for singles or doubles, unless maybe, just maybe, the pitcher threw the ball a little to close to your chin.

Enter Zack Greinke.

In the top of the 7th with his Dodgers up 3-1, Greinke was at the plate and he put some nice work in, ripping off the double. Following the double, Greinke took the extra time to add a little flare to the occasion, flipping his bat like a complete boss.

Full points go to Greinke, though, for the bat flip, as he obviously has been watching teammate Yasiel Puig very intently.

Now some people might be a little upset over the fact that Greinke did pull out the bat flip for a simple double, but hey, come on, he’s a pitcher. They really don’t get these moments often. If he wants to celebrate it with his best Puig impression, then so be it.
