The Tampa Bay Lightning are up 3-0 in their series against the Montreal Canadiens thanks in large part to a buzzer beater goal in Game 3.

It’s not often that you see a hockey game go down to a buzzer beater, but that was the case in the Tampa Bay Lightning’s 2-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday night.

After tying up the game, Tampa Bay looked like they were going to park the bus and wait for overtime hockey against the Habs — but then the improbable happened.

You always hope that your team can pull off a last second goal, despite the fact that scoring in hockey is one of the hardest things an athlete can do. But the Canadiens fell victim to the buzzer beater goal in Game 3 and are all of a sudden on the brink of elimination.

With literally no time on the clock, the Habs found a way to give up a game-winning goal and fall into a 0-3 hole against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Here’s another angle of the absolutely gutting goal by the Lighting.

There are daggers — and then there’s that knife in the hearts of Habs fans everywhere. This sums up the utterly confusing and embarrassing decline for the Canadiens in such a short amount of time. They were slipping up against the Ottawa Senators but the wheels are officially spinning off for Montreal after this latest loss.

You can’t really describe in words the feeling that Habs fans back home in Quebec are feeling at the moment, but their season is on the brink of being over and Tampa Bay is suddenly looking like the team to beat in the Eastern Conference.
