The NFL released the Wells Report that chronicled the Deflate Gate scandal surrounding the New England Patriots during their Super Bowl run in 2015, and Tom Brady could face discipline

Could Deflategate finally be getting resolved? It’s definitely a possibility after the Wells Report, which was released on Wednesday, signaled that multiple people involved with the Patriots organization, including Tom Brady, are at fault for tampering with footballs during the 2015 NFL Playoffs. Adam Schefter reports that the NFL is considering disciplining Tom Brady and multiple people from the Patriots organization.

This is a long time coming too. The original speculation dates back to January during the AFC championship game against the Indianapolis Colts. An interception by Colts defensive back, D’Qwell Jackson , led him to question the air pressure in the footballs. From there, everything spiraled out of control until today, where the Wells Report shows just how guilty Brady might be.

Tom Brady was apparently “generally aware” of what was going on behind the scenes in the New England Patriots locker room. So Brady is probably going to be reprimanded for blatantly cheating. In the next couple days, the NFL is expected to issue some sort of discipline for Brady and the Patriots which could have some severe implications on the Patriots organization.

The most severe of which would be the New England Patriots getting stripped of all wins during their 2015 Playoff run including their Super Bowl win. Brady being “generally aware” of all the sketchiness that was giving the Patriots a clear advantage because of the comfort level Brady had with the deflated footballs speaks worlds to just how severe this punishment might be.

At the very least Brady will face some type of suspension this year. The NFL will probably consider all the evidence that the Wells Report has put forth which more or less makes Brady out to be a pretty big cheater. And when you cheat on the biggest stage in professional football, the NFL won’t be on your side. It is still unclear how much Brady actually had to do with this. But for now, the Wells Report shows he is guilty.

Wherever this story ends up, at least the facts are beginning to come to the surface. For most of the playoffs and the offseason the public was in the dark on this issue. This was a long, drawn out investigation that probably could have been expedited back when it happen. However, it is finally becoming less foggy that Brady and the Patriots gave themselves an unfair advantage over the competition. If that isn’t cheating I don’t know what is. Stay tuned for what the NFL finally decides for what discipline is appropriate for Tom Brady and the Patriots.
