Daily Fantasy Baseball: Late FanDuel Picks For May 7
By Rich Pelesky
There are just six games on the evening slate for FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball contests. Here are my “Best of the Best” late FanDuel picks for May 7:
Pitcher
Chris Archer (TAM) home vs. TEX for $8900: The young Tampa star came down to earth last start against the Orioles (5th in ML, 4.9 rpg), but regardless has put up impressive numbers: 1.64 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, and 42 Ks in 38 1/3 IP over six starts in 2015. In the 4 starts against teams not from Baltimore he has given up zero earned runs in 27 IP and scored 17.67 FPPG. Archer gets a great matchup today against the Rangers who are 29th in the majors against RHP (.210 BA) and 23rd in runs scored. Tampa is a -170 favorite at home so the extra four points for a win are definitely in play. Even at the top price of $8900, there’s not a lot of risk for this pick.

Hitters
1B Mark Teixeira (NYY) home vs. BAL (Tillman) for $3,700: Teixeira (3.5 FPPG) is raking this year, 2nd in the majors with 10 HRs. He is back at home in Yankee Stadium (1st Park Factor HR 1.47 in ’14) against RHP Chris Tillman who brings in a 6.23 ERA and 1.54 WHIP. Teixeira got a 7 for 21 mark vs. Tillman and will be batting left today, where he has 7 HRs in 56 ABs in 2015. As only the 4th highest-priced 1B on the slate, this is a no-brainer.
SS Marwin Gonzalez (HOU) at LAA (Santiago) for $2,000: The 26 year-old Venezuelan (.271 BA in 59 AB) has done an admirable job filling in for an injured Jed Lowrie, especially of late with 7 hits in his last 18 AB. The switch-hitting Gonzalez is batting near the top of the order for the Astros and is hitting .412 (7 for 17) against LHP. At only $2200 and facing lefty Hector Santiago, is hard to pass on him at this price.

OF Wil Myers (SD) at ARZ (R. De La Rosa) for $3,400: Myers (3.2 FPP) is batting lead-off for a resurgent Padres offense (2nd in runs scored), hitting .279 with 4 HRs, 18 RBIs, and 3 SBs in 117 AB so far in 2015. He faces Ruby De La Rosa (5.40 ERA, 1.27 WHIP) tonight in hitter friendly Chase Field, to whom he is 4 of 7 against. With Matt Kemp and Justin Upton hitting behind him, you should expect a good return on investment from Myers.
