Tom Brady gets trolled by New York Post headline (Photo)
Tom Brady is in hot water over the Wells report that claimed he knew about the releasing of air in the footballs and the New York Post trolled him with a headline.
It has been a long couple of months for the New England Patriots and star quarterback Tom Brady. You would think that winning a Super Bowl would silence critics, but even Brady’s fourth Super Bowl ring and third SB MVP wasn’t enough.
The Patriots have been one of the best teams in the NFL for the past decade-plus and it has been due, in large part, to the success of their quarterback. Brady has gone from late-round draft pick to superstar in the league in just a matter of years.
However, that superstardom has cost him a bit because he felt the pressure to win during the team’s last playoff run that ended in the 2015 Super Bowl victory.
The Patriots were accused of deflating footballs that were used in the 2015 AFC Championship Game, one that New England won on 23-of-35 Brady completions with three touchdowns and an interception.
However, the Wells report, conjured up by independent investigator Ted Wells, uncovered evidence that Brady was aware of the deflation and may have even had a hand in it. People close to the organization, like owner Robert Kraft, are not happy with the report. Kraft claimed that it had insufficient evidence and didn’t prove anything.
All of this doesn’t matter when it comes to tabloids, however, as the New York Post revealed its headline on Thursday morning, and it was an absolute troll job of Brady.
It’s pretty obvious that headlines like this were going to surface everywhere, but it’s especially no surprise that this one happened to be in New York.
The Super Bowl-winning quarterback is expected to see some sort of punishment in the near future and many believe it will be in the form of a suspension or even a hefty fine. The NFL has a big decision to make about one of its top cash cows.
As for Brady, he’s on the back-nine of his career and it’s looking like he may be nearing retirement. The last thing he needs before he leaves the game is a sketchy New York Post headline accompanied by a Deflategate scandal and suspension.
Tough go of things since winning the Super Bowl a few months ago.
