Dante Fowler’s first comments since tearing ACL at Jaguars practice
Jacksonville Jaguars rookie defensive end Dante Fowler makes his first comments since learning of his torn ACL.
It was only eight days ago that Dante Fowler Jr was waiting to find out where his NFL career would begin as the Florida defensive end waited to hear his name called in the Draft.
He didn’t have to wait long as the Jacksonville Jaguars made him the No. 3 pick and were counting on him being the building block for Gus Bradley’s defense.
But in the NFL where many refer to it as “not for long” a lot can change in a span of eight days and it certainly did for Fowler after he tore his ACL in 11-on-11 drills on Friday.
Fowler came off the edge with the great burst that made him a star with the Gators and a high draft pick but seconds later he lay on the practice field, clutching his knee in pain. Hours later it was revealed that Fowler suffered a torn ACL and will miss his entire rookie season as he recovers from the surgery.
You can expect Fowler to be angry, dejected, sad and any other adjective you can think of to describe his feeling upon hearing the news, but he is surprisingly taking the injury news in stride and sent the following tweet to his followers and fans.

That positive attitude will serve Fowler well in the weeks and months ahead in his grueling recovery phase as he works to get the strength, speed and agility back in his leg after undergoing reconstructive knee surgery.
Sure, there will be moments of doubt that creep into his mind, it’s only human, but as long as he has the support and encouragement from his teammates, coaches and thousands of fans around the world and on Twitter, he will be better off in the long run.
