Memphis Grizzlies are giving out Mike Conley masks (Photo)
Without Mike Conley, the odds for a Grizzlies win over the Warriors weren’t high. With his return in masked fashion, the Grizzlies pulled off the biggest road upset of the playoffs thus far.
After suffering multiple facial fractures, Mike Conley has returned to the court for the Memphis Grizzlies in the second round of the playoffs while fighting through the pain.
After missing Game 1, Conley returned to Game 2 and led the Grizzlies over the Warriors in a strong defensive showing that allowed the Grizzlies to steal homecourt advantage.
Not only did Conley return in triumphant fashion with 22 points, he did it while wearing a mask.
Before the Grizzlies take the court Saturday night, the team is handing out masks for all fans to wear in unison as they cheer on the home team.
Not only will the Warriors have to travel to the place known as “the grindhouse”, they’re going to have thousands of fans wearing masks around them.
Just when it looked like Golden State was going to run away with the series after the first game, Conley’s masked return has the Grizzlies feeling good about their chances to knock off the favorites.
It won’t be easy but it will take a team effort and everyone in the stands looking like Batman to overcome the hot shooting of the Golden State Warriors.
Masks are much better than playoff shirts anyways.
