Looks like Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Matt Moore had a fun Friday afternoon hitting golfballs inside Tropicana Field.

Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Matt Moore appears to be doing well in his recovery from Tommy John surgery, as the lefty threw his second live batting practice session yesterday. The session reportedly went well, and it looks like Moore maybe be headed for a rehab assignment as his last stop before a potential late June return.

It looks like he’s also been working on his golf game in the interim:

Dude knows how to enjoy a Friday. Moore made Tropicana Field his personal driving range, showing off what looks like a pretty solid right handed swing, before riding off on some sort of motorized unicycle-type contraption.

Apparently, it’s something called a Solowheel, described as “the smallest, greenest, most convenient “People Mover” ever invented. The future of transportation? Maybe not, but it can apparently go up to 10 mph, so beats walking, I guess.

If this were Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo hitting golf balls while coming off a back injury, which he as suffered the past few years, he would be getting crucified for this. But because it is Moore and the Rays, it is instead a feel-good story about a player doing something we’d all willingly do if we got the opportunity inside of a major league ballpark.

Moore, 25, will provide a big boost to the Ray’s rotation when he returns. He went 17-4 with a 3.29 ERA in 2013, his last full season, and made the AL All-Star team.
